Sanitas Premium 500

If hospitalisation is required for a hospital stay or for surgery (emergency situations not applicable) you will have to contribute to the cost of the service required.  These services need to be arranged prior to the date of hospital admission.

The costs of these services vary depending on the type of service required and are divided into 3 categories:

LEVEL 1. €1000                         Hospitalisation without surgical intervention.

LEVEL 2. €2000                         Surgical operation e.g. caesarean birth.

LEVEL 3. €3000                         Major surgical operations e.g. open heart operations.

You will need to know the corresponding level of service that you require when arranging your admission to hospital.

Should you need to undergo more than one surgical procedure at the same time, you will be charged for the surgery that has been classified as the most critical.

• Second medical opinion: when suffering from a serious illness such as cancer,  your diagnosis will be sent for a second opinion from top professionals.
• ORL Laser Treatment: a more precise form of surgery which results in a faster recovery time for the patient.
• Monofocal intraocular lens:  this treatment is available for cataract surgery (only available if the treatment has been prescribed by a specialist within the Sanitas network of doctors).
• A comprehensive level of cover: Using our Sanitas network of professional doctors and hospitals.  There are 28,000 specialists and 527 private Sanitas Centres available throughout Spain.
• We speak your language:  Use of our special network of doctors speaking English, German and Spanish, all of which are listed in your Guide Book.
• Bi-lingual client help line – you can obtain assistance in English or Spanish for any queries in relation to your Sanitas Health Policy.
• Documents are in English and Spanish: the General Conditions and the Private Conditions of your policy, plus the Guidebook are all available in both languages.

Can I use the Premium 500 plan outside Spain?

Yes. The Premium 500 plan will cover you worldwide on a 90% reimbursement basis.

Do I have to pay co-payments on the Premium 500 plan?

No. There are no co-payments with the Premuim 500 plan.

What are pre-existing conditions and how do they apply for the Premium 500 plan?

Pre-existing conditions relate to previous pathologies prior to the date of you contracting the Premium 500 plan. If you have declared any pre-existing medical conditions on your application for the Premium 500 plan one of our English speaking doctors will call you. From there a confidential personal assessment will be made, which will guarantee the fairest and most comprehensive assessment of your health.

Does the Premium 500 plan cover antenatal care or childbirth?

Yes. The Premium 500 plan covers antenatal care and childbirth (including caesarian sections) 100% within the Sanitas network. However, waiting periods apply. If you wish to undertake your antenatal care and childbirth outside of the Sanitas network then the 90% reimbursement module kicks in.

The Premium 500 plan mentions something about dental, what dental is covered in this plan?

The Premium 500 plan comes bundled with full dental cover. After the policy holder has been a member for eight months he/she will be entitled to up to €400 worth of dental treatment per year on an 80% reimbursement basis. See whats covered with our full dental plan.

Does the Premium 500 plan have waiting periods?

The waiting periods for the Premium 500 Plan policy are detailed below.

The above qualification periods shall not apply to accidents covered by the Policy, life-threatening diseases supervening and diagnosed after the effective date of the Policy, or cases of premature childbirth.

Are there any age restrictions if I decide to apply for the Premium 500 plan?

You can contract the Premium 500 plan up to the age of 64. There is no upper age limit for maintaining your cover, once contracted.

What about my pharmacy bills, will the Premium 500 plan pay for these as well?

The premium 500 plan also gives its members 50% reimbursement on all prescribed medicines up to a limit of €300 per person per year.
